ITDA Snorkel Diver

snorkelling and Certification

Although donning a mask and snorkel and swimming in any body of water would technically constitute "snorkeling," by and large it is generally accepted that a "snorkeler" would don (put on) such equipment and practice such activity within the vicinity of a reef, wreck, or other submerged objects, either to observe aquatic life, including: fish, algae, etc. or to look at rock formations. Being non-competitive, snorkeling is considered more a leisure activity than a sport.  Whereas "Free Diving" is a Sport in it's own right! see also "ITDA Snorkelling page"...

Snorkelling and Free Diving Programs

ITDA offer a range of Snorkelling course programs from our non diving training division, from Introduction tosnorkelling snorkelling as an "Experience Only Program" (non Certification) available as both a pool program and open water program, to "Basic Snorkelling Skills". Free diving is a sports competition extension of snorkel diving, and basic snorkelling skills are invaluable as basic skills for both Free-Diving and learning Scuba Diving.

ITDA Dive Leaders and Club Instructors may train and certify these levels if they have taken and passed the ITDA Snorkelling and FREE Diving Instructor Program...  For the Introduction to snorkelling, experience orientation program all dive leader levels from ITDA may train this non certification level.   Dive Masters / Dive Con and Entry Level Instructors from other agencies may take our  ITDA Snorkelling and FREE Diving Instructor Program...  See link here for more details...
